TO THE PEOPLE OF BRIDGEVILLE: As a member of the 200 year old pioneer family whose members were in a U.S. Army company of riflemen right after the American Revolutionary War in the late 1700's, owned the town's general store in the late 1800's, a 125 year old funeral home, and a large non-profit emergency ambulance service... I've learned a lot about death, dying and the unimaginable suffering it causes. I've been here to watch countless numbers of teenagers die in the wreckages of cars. I've known dozens of widows who died within a year of the deaths of their husbands or wives for no other reason than broken hearts. I've seen the crushed, blackened bodies of coal miners in the Region, before their appearances were restored. I've known several couples who lost their only child, and later separated because their grief was so profound and unrelenting. I was only able to painfully glance at the faces of friends who died un- expectedly and tragically, lying in the funeral home, after spending time with them just a few days before, and I had to deal with the sudden death of my 47 year old father when I was 21, to become the new, inexperienced, unprepared sole supporter of my family. It is obvious that each of us has only ONE life to live, and should be provided with "equal" opportunities to live it in the most fulfilling way. That's why I've spent so much of my life trying to recommend ways to our public officials concerning how to improve "the quality of the lives" of the People in Bridgeville, because it was the town 6 generations of my family lived in! My first effort was to establish the first "paramedic operated" emergency ambulance service, in order to end the unnecessary deaths or permanant paralysis of approximately 19 people a year in the Bridgeville, South Fayette, Collier Area, resulting from some of the worst emergency ambulance service in Pennsylvania. The Comprehensive Community Development Plan that I recently presented to Bridgeville officials again, is just another of my attempts to help the People here to become as successful in life as the environment in our community influences and allows them to become. The Plan is a combination of the official recommendations that have been made to Bridgeville officials by 6 different professional city planning and traffic engineering firms, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, the University of Pittsburgh School of Engineering and professors from the top city planning colleges in America, whose advice I've been asking for years. It is a Plan to first of all. greatly reduce the disproportionate amount of taxes being paid by Bridgeville families considering their modest annual $55,000 incomes by... RE-developing and expanding the tax revenue producing Washington Avenue and Baldwin Street business districts by.. ending the 50 year old traffic congestion and parking deficiency problems, and the flooding and air polution problems, (that have been shortening life spans of Bridgeville residents), so that our families can have the same quality and number of public facilities and programs as those being provided in the 3 neighboring communities. To protect the future of your families, children and businesses I suggest that you support this Plan by writing to Bridgeville officials, and by attending the Council Meetings, the 2nd Monday of each month, at the Bridgeville Borough Building at 7 pm. Don't feel helpless. Don't give up. Sincerely yours, Bob Fryer, 412-221-2000 To see: The proposed Bridgeville Comprehensive Economic Development Plan go to...
