Alligator found in Beaver County creek

A small alligator was found swimming in a Beaver County creek on Wednesday afternoon. It was safely captured and taken to an area pet store.

Bystanders spotted the 2½-foot gator in Freedom and called the Beaver County Regional Police, according to TribLive news partner WTAE.

Police said they believe the alligator is an escaped or abandoned pet.

The Off the Hook pet shop in Ambridge has taken in the gator as a guest.


House fire in Carrick

A house fire broke out Thursday morning in Pittsburgh’s Carrick neighborhood, according to TribLive news partner WTAE.

First responders were alerted to the fire shortly after 3:40 a.m. at a home on the 1700 block of Amanda Street.

Firefighters remained on the scene for more than an hour.

Allegheny County 911 dispatchers told WTAE that no one was taken to the hospital. There was no initial word on what caused the fire.
