About

Born and raised in Washington County, Her dad was a machinist and her mom worked in social services while raising four children. Kim was board certified in respiratory therapy before getting into public service. She is the proud mother of three sons, Thomas, Michael, and Matthew. ​ In 2008, Kim Ward was elected to the Pennsylvania 39th Senatorial District and was the first woman ever elected to the seat. She was re-elected in 2012 & 2016. Before her election to the Senate, Kim served as a Westmoreland County Commissioner in 2008 and on the Hempfield Township Board of Supervisors from 2002-2007, where she was Chairwoman of the Board for the final three years. Recently Kim was appointed the leadership position of Majority Caucus Administrator for the Senate of Pennsylvania. In the Senate, Kim led the effort to reform Pennsylvania’s child abuse laws in order to protect our children. She also sponsored the Federal E-Verify program to ensure workers on taxpayer-funded construction projects are legally permitted to work. In total Kim has had over 20 pieces of legislation passed into law. When elected to the Senate, Kim, promised that she wouldn’t vote to raise your taxes and NEVER has. She has successfully fought AGAINST Governor Rendell’s and Governor Wolf’s massive tax hikes. Kim is a strong supporter of our 2nd amendment right, a gun owner and a member of the NRA. She is pro-life and fights every day for these values. ​
