About

Originally known As Dan’s Tv, Dan’s Appliance began in a small trailer in Allegheny Township in 1977. Dan Diebold started out fixing TV’s on the side while he worked at Arco Electronics in Parks Township. In 1978 the family moved into their current home in Leechburg Borough where Dan continued fixing TV’s as side work. Eventually Dan’s side work grew to become a full-time job. In 1979 Dan moved his shop into two garages on Bridge Ave in Leechburg. In 1983 Fondrk’s Hardware burned down and left only the warehouse at the corner of 3rd Street and Center Ave. Fondrk’s Hardware was a family business owned and operated by Dan’s brother in law Joseph P. Fondrk. Joe offered the warehouse to Dan and his wife, Karen Fondrk-Diebold. The warehouse use to be Leechburg’s wheat gristmill. After a few months of refurbishing the building, Dan and Karen officially opened Dan’s TV. The store offered sales and service of TV’s. Eventually the business grew to include major appliances. This resulted in the building being expanded to hold more stock. Eventually leading to the name of Dan’s TV & Appliances, which offered sales, repair service and parts. Over the years the business grew and added on more employees, the most notable being Russ Vogt, whom was with the business for 32 years before retiring. Eventually technology changed and TV’s became a disposable commodity. It no longer took 3 people to deliver a 50” TV and instead your teenage kid could carry one. Dan and Karen made the decision to stop the sales and service of TV’s since it was no longer economically viable. Once again, the name changed, this time to Dan’s Appliance. Which it is still known as today. Dan passed away in 2016 and his wife Karen is now the sole owner. With a staff of four employees the store continues to sell major appliances and is one of the few businesses in the Valley offering repair service, parts and warranty service. With Dan’s you get knowledgeable, prompt service and a human being answers the phone. If they can’t talk you through your problem, Sam will be out to fix it. Dan’s carries mainly Amana, Maytag, Whirlpool and Kitchenaid. But if you see something you like in another brand or store, stop on in and they can probably order it for you. At Dan’s the price you pay includes delivery, installation and removal of your old appliance. Built in dishwashers and wall ovens do have an additional installation fee. Dan’s has financing available and always offers 6 months same as cash to qualified customers. Dan’s has special sales through out the year where 12 months at 0% interest is available. Dan’s is still the mom and pop shop of the old days with an experienced sales and service staff.
