H The Municipality of PENN A HOME RULE COMMUNITY HILLS Mayor's Message By Mayor Pauline Calabrese Phyllis Diller said she knew she was getting older when her back went out more than she did. BELOW IS A REPRINT OF A PORTION OF THE NEWSLETTER FROM OUR SENIOR CENTER May is Older American's Month and we are celebrating 60 years of this Act which was passed in response to concern by the policymakers at that time about the lack of commu- nity social services for older Americans. Funding for this has provided many benefits for seniors, i.e., congregate and home delivered meals, providing the ability and support for older Americans to live in their homes as long as possible with dignity and independence, as well as many other senior benefits. So, come to YOUR Penn Hills Senior Center for some of the special events planned: CINCO DE MAYO BINGO: Come celebrate CINCO DE MAYO, on, you guessed it, FRIDAY, MAY 5, 2023, at YOUR Penn Hills Senior Center. The cost is $10.00 per person which includes one snack, one drink, 1 packet of 10 games and 1 of each special including the JACKPOT. Extra specials are: $1.00for 1 ex- tra Special; $2.00 for 1 extra JACKPOT; $5.00 for 1extra 3-card packet of 10 games. Cash prizes as fol- lows: regular games $10.00 OR $5.00 each winner; specials $25.000R multiple winners split; JACK- POT $75.00 OR multiplewinners split. Only 50 tickets will be sold (first come, first served) in YOUR Senior Center office (no refunds). NO tickets will be sold on the day of the bingo, so stop by and show your support. LIFE OPTIONS PITTSBURGH Senior Resource Fair: on Friday, May 12, 2023, in the first floor Activity Room in YOUR Senior Center form 9:30 am to noon. We will be co-hosting this very informative events which is being sponsored by our friends at Juniper Village. There will be representatives from 20 agencies that provide needed services for boomers and seniors in our area. So, if you are a senior or have senior friends or family members stop by and gather some good information. Admission is free and all are welcome. PENN HILLS SENIOR SERVICE CENTER OPEN HOUSE: ALL residents of Penn Hills, young and old are invited to attend YOUR Center's Open House, on Friday, May 19, 2023, from 10 am to 3 pm, in the Center Activity Room lo- cated on the first floor of the Senior Center Building, 147 Jefferson Road. Stop by and see what is available to our senior residents of Penn Hills through the continued support of the Municipality of Penn Hills and local tax dollars. You may have passed us and wondered what we are about, now you are invited to visit and learn. Refreshments will be served. Admission is free. Farmers Market Coupon Distribution will be on Thursday, June 22, 2023.
