Mark Brodnicki and Catherine Sapp, two of our veteran council members, attended the Allegheny League of Municipalities Conference with me, which provides education and information to elected officials. There were programs, presentations and discussions about many topics, including public safety, energy, economic development, job growth, business expansion, and infrastructure, to name a few. During the month of April each year, local government is celebrated at the conference. I am very proud to announce that the Municipality of Penn Hills was awarded the distinction of being a 2023 BANNER COMMUNITY. This recognition highlights the work that elected officials do in local communities to serve their residents, organizations and businesses. The Citation, given by the County Executive, acknowledges the commitment of our local government to: Professional Development Prudent Fiscal Management Transparency Accountability Proactive Communication This is a very good showing for Penn Hills. The playwright George Bernard Shaw sent a note to Winston Churchill: "I am enclosing two tickets to the first night of my new play. Bring a friend - if you have one." Churchill wrote back: "I can't make it the first night. I'll be there the second night - if there is one."
